Hub Vegan Butta Chick*n -Another stunning flavour added to our Vegan pie range

The chef has been blown away by the popularity of our Vegan pies and we strive to keep it that way by launching new and delicious flavours to keep our customer’s happy.

Our Vegan Butta Chick*n is the new kid on the block. It is made from plant based “hemp chick*n®” cooked in a rich, spicy tomato-based sauce with vegan butter and coconut cream baked in a crisp flaky vegan pastry.

Hemp chick*n® is created using the hearts of hemp seed that is grown in New Zealand. It is a high protein meat-alternative, has a succulent mouthfeel that is closer to animal proteins than other plant-based proteins. It is also low in fat 9g per 100g, and very low in saturated fats (0.9g per 100g).

We take making vegan pies seriously and are proud to have worked with the NZ Vegetarian Society to be Vegan Certified so you can be assured that our pies are 100% vegan.

What’s Involved in gaining the vegan certification?

  • The Vegan Certified programme is administered by the NZ Vegetarian Society, in collaboration with the Vegan Society of Aotearoa New Zealand.
  • To be granted the Vegan Certification we must guarantee that Our Hub Gourmet Vegan Pies and Café Rolls
    • Contain no ingredients or substances that have originated from any part of a living or dead animal.
    • Has no cross-contamination during production. If the same production line is shared with non-vegan products/ ingredients, thorough cleaning of machinery, equipment, utensils, surfaces, and clothing, must be carried out before vegan products are touched, prepared, produced, or packaged.
    • Contain no genetically modified ingredients or products containing genetically modified ingredients. (An exception is made for ingredients that contain genetically modified material at levels of less than 1% of that ingredient.
