Our chef is a nightmare in the kitchen!
If the ingredients aren’t the best available he blows his top. If the herbs and spices aren’t just so he goes ape. And if the flaky pastry isn’t crimped to perfection, he hits the bloody roof. He’s hell to work with – but you have to admit, he does make the most wicked pies and sausage rolls. The range of flavours is outstanding and we even have vegan pies so everyone is catered for.
What’s Involved in gaining the vegan certification?
The Vegan Certified programme is administered by the NZ Vegetarian Society, in collaboration with the Vegan Society of Aotearoa New Zealand.
To be granted the Vegan Certification we must guarantee that Our Hub Gourmet Vegan Pies and Café Rolls
- Contain no ingredients or substances that have originated from any part of a living or dead animal.
- Has no cross-contamination during production. If the same production line is shared with non-vegan products/ ingredients, thorough cleaning of machinery, equipment, utensils, surfaces, and clothing, must be carried out before vegan products are touched, prepared, produced, or packaged.
- Contain no genetically modified ingredients or products containing genetically modified ingredients. (An exception is made for ingredients that contain genetically modified material at levels of less than 1% of that ingredient.)
